About us
Atsushi Suzuki’s journey as a bartender began in his hometown of Shibamata, a traditional downtown neighborhood in Tokyo. After building a strong foundation in Japan, he moved to New York to further develop his craft. He later spent time in cities including London, Toronto, and Shanghai, where he shaped a style that brings together an international perspective and a refined Japanese aesthetic.
In 2017, Atsushi reached a major milestone by winning the global title at Chivas Masters. Since then, he has traveled to more than 40 cities across 25 countries, hosting guest shifts and seminars while sharing his approach to cocktails and Tokyo’s bar culture with a global audience.
In 2020, he opened The Bellwood in a quieter corner of Shibuya. The bar reflects his concept of “modern nostalgia,” combining classic Japanese elements with contemporary cocktail culture. This approach has earned international recognition, including a No.48 ranking on The World's 50 Best Bars in 2025.
Today, Atsushi continues to expand his work across different concepts. In addition to The Bellwood, he operates the sister bar BW Cave and Bell Sushi, a sushi concept that blends Japanese ingredients with global influences. He is also involved in Love Thy Neighbor, his first project outside Japan.
Whether in Tokyo or abroad, Atsushi focuses on creating experiences that feel both thoughtful and approachable while continuing to share his perspective with a wider audience.
Active in Tokyo since 1999, L. explores a wide range of creative expression, from graphic design to hand-painted clothing and bags, custom-painted cars and shops, and canvas drawings. Inspired by the culture of bygone eras, he brings a unique, contemporary vision to every project.
From 2009, L. served as the lead designer and artist for the apparel brand GLADHAND. In 2023, he struck out on his own, and in September 2024, he founded L.Head Co., Ltd., continuing to push the boundaries of design and artistic expression.
